Our Current Projects on the Farm

At Acrididea, we are constantly seeking new ways to improve our practices, increase sustainability, and offer ever more innovative products. Here's a selection of the projects and studies currently underway on our farm :

Locust Habitat Optimization Project :

We have launched a study to determine the optimal conditions for Locust breeding. This project examines various factors such as temperature, humidity, population density, and light cycles to ensure the well-being of the Locusts while maximizing their growth and reproduction.

Circular Feeding Study :

In collaboration with academic partners, we are exploring methods to create a more circular food system for our Locusts. This includes using organic waste and local agricultural by-products as food sources, thereby reducing our ecological footprint and supporting the local economy.

Development of Innovative Products :

We are working on developing new ranges of locust-based products, including gluten-free, vegan, and nutrient-enriched options. This project aims to diversify our offerings and make locusts an attractive and accessible food option for a broader range of consumers.

Environmental Sustainability Study :

A major project on our farm is to assess and reduce our carbon footprint. We are studying the impact of every aspect of our production process, from breeding to packaging, and implementing strategies to minimize our environmental impact.

Training and Education Programs :

We have implemented programs to educate our staff, local communities, and students about sustainable farming practices and the benefits of entomophagy. These initiatives aim to strengthen knowledge and skills around sustainable agriculture and promote the acceptance of insects as a food source.

Partnerships for Biodiversity :

In collaboration with environmental organizations, we are undertaking projects to protect and enhance biodiversity around our farm. These efforts include creating habitats for local wildlife and implementing farming practices that support surrounding ecosystems.

Towards an Innovative and Sustainable Future

These projects and studies reflect our commitment to innovation, quality, and sustainability. At Acrididea, we continue to seek, learn, and innovate to ensure a better and greener food future for all.
